چکیده
Objectives Cold agglutinin disease (CAD) is a rare form of autoimmune hemolytic anemia that may manifest in complement-mediated chronic anemia, profound fatigue, and transient agglutination-mediated circulatory symptoms. This study compared the healthcare resource utilization (HRU) patients with CAD matched non-CAD comparison cohort using national Danish health registry data. Methods All cases were identified from 1 January 1999 to 30 June 2016, National Patient Registry International Classification Diseases, Tenth Revision, discharge diagnosis codes. A subcohort primary was based on absence secondary predisposing concomitant diseases. individuals without general population birth year, sex, 19 categories Charlson Comorbidity Index. Comparative analyses assessed inpatient hospitalizations, outpatient clinic visits, emergency room transfusion use, expensive drug use between cohorts 6 months before 12 after admission date first hospital visit (index date). Results total 104 1003 members. Throughout index date, more likely have at least one hospitalization (odds ratio [OR], 3.9; 95% confidence interval [CI], 2.5–6.0), (OR, 17.2; CI, 6.8–43.1), blood 93.0; 33.3–259.8) than comparisons. HRU similarly higher among comparisons during date. Findings similar CAD.Conclusions Characterization European has not previously been conducted. shows utilize significant resources Denmark. Increased uses presents opportunities for earlier management.

Cold agglutinin disease.
Cold agglutinin disease is a rare and poorly understood disorder affecting 15% of patients with autoimmune hemolytic anemia. We reviewed the clinical and pathologic features, prognosis, and management in the literature and describe our institutional experience to improve strategies for accurate diagnosis and treatment. Retrospective analysis identified 89 patients from our institution with cold...
متن کاملTransient cold agglutinin disease with mycoplasma infection.
Cold agglutinins are autoantibodies and are often present in the sera of healthy individuals. They assume importance when the thermal reactivity of these antibodies approaches body temperature. This communication describes a case of cold hemagglutinin disease with Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection detected during routine laboratory investigations. The patient was managed conservatively.

BACKGROUND Exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are an important measure of disease severity in terms of impaired disease progression, increased recovery time, healthcare resource utilization, overall morbidity and mortality. We aimed to quantify exacerbation and healthcare resource utilization rates among COPD patients in Sweden with respect to baseline treatments, exa...
